  • Drink Responsibly: Protect Your Head

So I thought hard about what to do for a project in which one has to demonstrate the concept of "exaggeration". And I think what I finally decided on is the best I could really come up with... at the time.  All I will say for now is that it simply involves a football helmet.  Simple, but may get a good laugh I hope.

My "research project" is finally complete.  I think it turned out great!  It's pretty amateurish, but still may get a good reaction from the class.  We may have demonstrated more random dumb jokes than facts, but whatever!

  • Playing Hooky... For Homework

OK, so I finally almost have my research project put together for class, but this had to result in me missing class again...  so once again I sort of missed out on any fun festivities.  But I had fun making another video with my friends!  This particular new clip, however, is a bit more amateurish but I think turned out funny none-the-less.  Prepare to learn about... that's right.... BEER on Wednesday =D

  • Exaggerating on Exaggeration

The Triplets Of Belleville was actually a surprising movie to me...  I didn't believe it seemed like it would be my kind of movie, but it turned out to be fairly interesting.  It told quite a nice story.  I found the mother character to be very funny... constantly blowing her whistle.  And speaking of which I found the use of audio and character body language to be quite a sufficient substitute for any dialogue, which was very surprising also.

The use of exaggeration seems to become a cute style for the film... the mammoth-sized ship that leaves the country, the box-shouldered mafia men, and the outrageously skinny character of the son.  It plays very well into the humor of the story.

For those of you who have not seen the movie, I can sum up the extent of exaggeration possibly through one picture, which shows the life-like version of the mafia men....

  • Make Believe Makes Comeback

So I recently told my friends what my newest assignment of my college-level kindergarten class was, and let's just say when you tell your closest college friends that your homework is to play for 2 hours, they kind of look at you with an expression between jealousy and hatred.

Any way, I offered them the idea to help out by having a wrestling match, which some of my friends like to randomly do for no reason.  but since I knew that this assignment also had to entail some sort of "link to childhood", I came up with the idea to have us all pretend to be our favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja turtle... and once my best friend David heard that he went nuts.

We all chose our favorite Turtle, and the fighting commenced!  At first it kind of started out as playful wrestling and throwing each other around, until it progressed into seriously matched fights (as they occasionally do).  No one got hurt, but we all had a hell of a lot of fun!

The video we had to watch was quite an interesting presentation.  Although it's funny how I thought that people sitting to watch a presentation probably felt like "Pick up your paper and pencil" may have felt more like work than play, but still I got the point of the exercise, and I agree completely- society has lost it's emphasis on play.  And it's a darn shame.

  • The Blind Can See All

So our latest assignment was to throw away one of our senses for at least 2 hours and document the journey.  Now, based on a person's common knowledge of what someone's "senses" are, one would assume that you would have to choose between sight, hearing, touch, taste, or smell.... However, this class is all about creativity and interpretation, so I tried seeing the rules in a different way.

I took away what I consider one of my stronger senses (or "abilities", if you will), and even stretched it furhter than just two hours so it would make more of an impact for the assignment.  I chose to loose my ability to drive for one day.  I consider my "sense" of good driving to be a strong quality, as well as a very handy one-- so to be without it for a full day is kind of a pain.

To make it less burdensome I chose to do it on a day I didn't really have anywhere important to be (work/school/etc.).  But my friends wanted to hang out for the afternoon, so I told them they'd have to give me a ride.  The biggest upside about this, I'd have to say, is that I saved plenty of gas!  But it also was sort of troublesome, just a little, for my friends to have to drive every instance they wanted me to come do something: my friend Allison had to pick me up to go to lunch, my buddy David had to drive from Noblesville to pick me up for a movie, and Michael had to give me a ride to Jon's house to swim.  A lot of rides, but at least it was for a school assignment! (or so goes my excuse) =)
